Research has proven that Celebrex benefits adults who have each of these painful conditions:
- Acute pain - Use Celebrex to relieve moderate-to-severe acute pain. Notice relief within one hour of the first dose.
- Painful menstrual cramps - This condition is also known as primary dysmenorrhea. Women who experience painful menstrual cramps should be able to obtain relief within one hour of their first Celebrex dose.
- Osteoarthritis - Not only can Celebrex relieve pain, inflammation and stiffness but it can also make it easier for osteoarthritis sufferers to do daily activities, such as walking and climbing stairs.
- Rheumatoid arthritis - Celebrex works to relieve the joint tenderness, pain and swelling felt by adults who have rheumatoid arthritis.
Who Should Not Take Celebrex?
Women who are breastfeeding, pregnant or thinking about becoming pregnant should talk to a doctor before starting to take Celebrex. No significant studies have been undertaken to explore the safety of Celebrex in pregnant or nursing women.
The safety of Celebrex in children younger than age 18 has not been studied, so children should not use this product.
People with any of the following conditions should consult with a doctor before taking Celebrex:
- Allergies to celecoxib, the active chemical in Celebrex
- Allergic reactions to a type of medication called a sulfonamide
- History of asthma, hives or other allergic reaction to NSAIDs or aspirin
- Late-stage pregnancy
